Juvenile Detention Support Program

Rooted in Culture. Designed for the Individual. Built for the Future.

When Indigenous youth become involved with the justice system, intervention too often focuses on managing behavior rather than understanding the circumstances, unmet needs, and experiences contributing to it. For our youth, justice-system involvement can also create further separation from family, culture, and community at a time when these connections are needed most.

Our Juvenile Diversion Support Program takes a fundamentally different approach. Every youth receives a program developed entirely from the ground up, built around their individual needs, cultural identity, personal strengths, and vision for the future.

Rather than placing our youth into standardized programming, we begin by understanding each individual. Our Care Leads work alongside youth, families, and communities to explore the experiences and underlying factors contributing to justice-system involvement, identify meaningful personal goals, and develop an individualized pathway forward. Each program brings together culturally relevant teachings, mentorship, emotional regulation, behavioral intervention, life-skills development, and opportunities to strengthen family and community connections.

Powered by CareLink, our virtual care platform, the program extends individualized support beyond scheduled sessions. Youth receive access to dedicated Care Leads, 24/7 virtual support, personalized development plans, cultural resources, and practical tools that help turn new understanding into meaningful everyday progress.

By integrating the A.I.M. Model and the Three S's of Intervention with individualized cultural programming, we work to address the underlying drivers of behavior while developing the practical skills, personal accountability, and internal motivation needed for lasting change.

Our objective extends beyond preventing detention or further justice-system involvement. We want our youth to leave the program with a stronger understanding of themselves, meaningful cultural connections, practical skills, and a personally developed pathway toward independence, stability, and opportunity.

No two youth have the same story. Their programs shouldn't be the same either.

Juvenile Detention Support Program

Our Juvenile Detention Support Program provides individualized, culturally grounded behavioral support to help youth strengthen emotional regulation, maintain cultural connections, develop essential life skills, and prepare for successful community reintegration. Delivered virtually, the program integrates the A.I.M. Model, CARE-based support, and the Three S's of Successful Intervention to address immediate challenges while building the foundations for lasting personal growth.

We believe detention should never mean disconnection from identity, family, culture, or community. Our approach prioritizes understanding the experiences and underlying needs that shape behavior, helping youth build the confidence, skills, and relationships needed to move forward.

Emotional Regulation Support

We help youth identify emotional triggers, recognize early signs of dysregulation, and develop practical strategies for managing frustration, anger, anxiety, and impulsive responses. Using the A.I.M. Model, individualized sessions explore the actions, intentions, and motivations underlying behavioral patterns, strengthening self-awareness and the ability to respond constructively to challenging situations.

CARE Need Fulfillment

Challenging behaviors can reflect unmet needs for Connection, Agency, Recognition, and Emotional Safety. Our CARE-based approach helps youth understand how these needs influence their emotions and actions while developing healthier ways to seek support, communicate their needs, exercise autonomy, and establish emotional security.

Cultural Connections and Identity

We recognize cultural identity, family relationships, and community belonging as important foundations for well-being. Our program helps Indigenous youth maintain and strengthen connections to their distinct Nations, families, traditions, and communities. Cultural considerations are integrated into individualized support planning, ensuring that personal growth and rehabilitation do not come at the expense of cultural identity.

Individualized Support Planning

Each youth receives an Individualized Support Plan informed by their strengths, behavioral patterns, cultural identity, and developmental needs. Plans incorporate emotional regulation strategies, CARE-based need mapping, communication goals, cultural connections, and practical developmental objectives. Guided by the Three S's of Stabilize, Scaffold, and Supersede, support progresses from immediate stabilization toward lasting behavioral change and greater independence.

Life Skill Development

Our program helps youth develop the practical skills needed for greater independence and successful community reintegration. Individualized sessions address decision-making, conflict resolution, communication, accountability, financial literacy, education, employment readiness, healthy relationships, and personal goal setting. Activities are tailored to each youth's circumstances, interests, and future aspirations.

Behavioral Insight and Long-Term Growth

Lasting change requires more than compliance with external rules. Through the A.I.M. Model, we help youth recognize behavioral patterns, understand their underlying motivations, and develop healthier alternatives.

By connecting behavioral insight with emotional regulation, cultural identity, and practical life skills, we support youth in building the internal capacity to make informed decisions, strengthen relationships, and pursue meaningful goals beyond detention.

How the Program Works

The Juvenile Detention Program is delivered through secure virtual sessions directly within detention facilities. These sessions may be provided in individual format, small group format, or a blended model, depending on facility needs and youth suitability. This behavioral support program can be structured as a short-term intervention, an ongoing support service, or part of a broader rehabilitation and transition planning framework.

Each participating youth may receive:

- Individual virtual support sessions

- Behavioral and emotional needs assessment

- An individualized support plan

- Emotional regulation intervention and skill-building

- CARE-based behavioral understanding

- Life skill development sessions

- Goal tracking and progress review

- Staff-informed support recommendations when appropriate

- Reintegration-focused planning where applicable

Sessions are designed to be structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. The tone of the work is respectful, direct, nonjudgmental, and growth-oriented, ensuring that each youth receives the necessary juvenile detention support.

Juvenile Escalation & Deterrence Strategy Session

Juvenile Escalation & Deterrence Strategy Session

Juvenile Escalation & Deterrence Strategy Session

This structured ninety-minute virtual session is designed to clarify escalation patterns and identify risk factors before deeper system involvement occurs. Utilizing the A.I.M. Model, we examine the youth’s behavioral Actions, underlying Intentions, and core Motivations to determine what is sustaining repetition and accelerating risk. This is a crucial step in our behavioral support program, which aims to provide targeted emotional regulation intervention for at-risk youth.

Escalation sequences are mapped across home, school, and community environments, and reinforcement dynamics are identified. These insights are essential for developing effective juvenile detention support strategies.

The session concludes with a clear, individualized deterrence strategy outlining immediate stabilization steps and trajectory recalibration options. Additionally, this session assesses whether structured continuity through the 12 Session Juvenile Recalibration Program is appropriate.

12 Week Juvenile Recalibration Program

Juvenile Escalation & Deterrence Strategy Session

Juvenile Escalation & Deterrence Strategy Session

The 12 Session Juvenile Recalibration Program is a structured twelve-week virtual intervention that serves as a behavioral support program designed to interrupt escalation trajectories and redirect behavior toward stable, pro-social development.

This is not a fixed curriculum or generic mentoring model. Each youth receives an individualized recalibration plan developed following the Juvenile Deterrence Assessment. Sessions are tailored to the youth’s specific behavioral drivers, escalation patterns, environmental influences, and risk trajectory.

Grounded in the A.I.M. Model, youth are guided through understanding their behavioral Actions, clarifying underlying Intentions, and identifying the Motivations sustaining repetition. This emotional regulation intervention is structured through the Three S’s of Stabilize, Scaffold, and Supersede, ensuring that immediate volatility is reduced, environmental alignment is strengthened, and unstable cycles are replaced with durable alternatives.

Across twelve weeks, youth engage in structured analysis, applied exercises, reflective projects, and pro-social pathway development. The focus is on building internal awareness, strengthening decision-making, increasing accountability, and constructing realistic alternatives to risk-driven behavior.

The objective is not short-term compliance; it is individualized trajectory recalibration, providing essential juvenile detention support.
