CareLink: Cultural Connections is a fully virtual, individualized cultural learning and mentorship program designed to help Indigenous youth discover their heritage, strengthen their roots, and develop lasting connections to their Nations and communities, regardless of where they live.
Combining personalized digital learning with weekly one-on-one cultural mentorship, CareLink provides every youth with a cultural learning journey developed specifically for them. From traditional language and ancestral history to cultural teachings, heritage, and identity, every aspect of the program is built around the youth's distinct Nation, personal interests, and cultural background.
Whether our youth are living within their home communities, in foster care, in residential placements, or in detention, CareLink brings consistent cultural education, meaningful mentorship, and opportunities for personal growth directly to them.
A Personalized Journey of Cultural Discovery
Every youth's cultural journey is different. Their Nation, language, family history, traditions, and personal experiences shape who they are, and their cultural education should reflect that.
Through CareLink, each youth receives an individualized virtual learning portal featuring a cultural education plan developed from the ground up around their identity and interests.
Their personalized curriculum incorporates their Nation's history, traditional language, cultural heritage, stories, values, and teachings. Interactive lessons, guided activities, cultural projects, and personal learning goals create an engaging educational experience that evolves as their knowledge and interests develop.
Rather than offering generalized Indigenous cultural programming, we provide a learning experience rooted in each youth's own heritage, drawing on Nation-specific resources and teachings shared in accordance with community protocols.
Weekly Cultural Mentorship
Cultural learning is more than information. It is a relationship with who we are, where we come from, and the communities to which we belong.
Every youth's personalized learning journey is paired with weekly one-on-one virtual mentorship sessions. These sessions transform independent learning into an ongoing experience of cultural discovery, meaningful conversation, and personal development.
Cultural mentors guide youth through their individualized learning plans, explore cultural teachings, support language development, discuss ancestral histories, and help youth understand the significance of their heritage in their everyday lives.
Mentorship also provides a consistent relationship in which our youth can ask questions, explore their identity, celebrate their progress, and develop meaningful personal goals. Their interests and experiences shape each session, ensuring that cultural learning remains relevant, engaging, and personally meaningful.
Through consistent engagement, we aim to foster cultural pride, strengthen belonging, and help our youth develop a deeper connection to their roots.
Strengthening Cultural Identity and Community Connections
Our cultures are living connections between generations. They are carried through our languages, histories, teachings, family relationships, and responsibilities to our communities.
CareLink helps our youth understand these connections and recognize their place within them. Through individualized education and mentorship, youth explore their ancestral roots, deepen their understanding of their Nation, and develop a stronger sense of cultural identity.
The program also creates opportunities to strengthen relationships with family, community, and cultural knowledge holders, respecting each Nation's teachings and protocols. By connecting cultural learning to real relationships and everyday experiences, we help our youth recognize that their culture is not simply something to study. It is something they belong to and can carry forward.
